When purchasing our products you became the owner of the high quality products and similar to many others windows and doors require proper use and maintenance. To take advantage of our guarantee and warranty at least once a year you need to arrange a professional maintenance service. This must be done by the manufacturer, distributor or other company recommended or approved by the manufacturer. Apart from the professional maintenance to maximise the life of your products you should do the basic maintenance several times a year.
High quality windows because of its good tightness do not allow most of the steam from the air to get out of the building. Therefore, regular ventilation by opening the windows and using ventilation functions is necessary at least a couple of times every day.
Wooden and wooden-aluminium windows and doors are very sensitive to temperature and humidity changes. To increase the life of your windows you must avoid overheating, excessive cooling, drying and mostly the moisture. Wooden windows and especially the doors must not be left opened for too long time, they should be closed as often as possible and each time you should make sure all the catching and locking points are properly closed. Unpleasant temperature, humidity, mechanical damages and bad installation are the basic reasons for warping of the frames.
All the mechanical damages must be repaired immediately, the defects must be filled and protected with the paint. Even small damage can considerably shorten the life of your windows and doors.
To extend the life of the original finish Drewexim recommends doing the basic maintenance at least twice a year (spring and autumn) using special Sikkens window maintenance kit which you can buy from Drewexim or its distributors. Sikkens maintenance kit instructions are available on our website. The maintenance kit consists of cleaning liquid and milk protector which prevents from absorbing the moisture into the frames through micro- cracks and small damages that occur during normal operation of the windows. It is strictly forbidden to use any abrasives, powders or acidic liquids for maintenance. Powder coated or anodized aluminium drip rail and its pvc parts should be cleaned with warm water with gentle cleaning solution and rinsed afterwards. Even in case of heavy dirt no abrasives can be used.
