Passivhaus Institute certificate for Drewexim

EURO88 PHI PASSIVEHAUS WINDOWS   Uw= 0,79 W/m²K

In March 2011 Drewexim joined a very small elite group of manufacturers whose products are certified by Passive House Institute in Darmstad. It is the most prestigious and one of a kind certificate which proves the product to be an absolutely suitable component for passive houses.

According to the calculations performed by the Institute Drewexim's Euro88 PHI windows equipped with triple glazing (with thermal transmittance Ug= 0,7 W/m2K and solar energy transmittance g > 50%) achieve the overall  window thermal transmittance factor Uw =  0,79 W/m2K.

Other features of Drewexim's Euro88 PHI window:

- tilt & turn operation

- possibility of using concealed hinges

- possibility of using WK1 or WK2 hardware

  (enhanced security hardware)

- frame depth of only 88mm

- possibility of using triple glazing with Ug = 0,4 W/m2K

- endless choice of colours incl. dual-colour

- free choice of handles incl. key-lockable or with a push button

- FSC certification on request

The construction of Drewexim's Passivehaus Certified Euro88 PHI window consists of engineered pine wood with a special insulation hidden in between so that it is not visible from the outside. It is a thermoplastic foam based on polystyrene, a polymer with a density ranging from 100 to 400 kg/m3. Tiny closed-cell foam balls of less than 1mm in diameter are welded thermally into a styrofoal compact block. The thermal parameters of this material are much better than  parameters of wood. Therefore, the combination of engineered wood and low U value insulation allows to build a high tech window suitable for any passive house.
