Shutters should be fitted on the windows which are large and which are located on the east, south or west side of the building. In summer in such rooms it might be quite hot - in the morning on east and in the afternoon on west. Rooms with windows to the south are the hottest. Closing the shutter at the right time of the day you can protect the interior from overheating.
In winter the shutters protect from cold. Depending on the material they are made of they can improve the thermal insulation of the windows and doors by 30-50%. If the electrical openers are used there is no need to open the windows or doors before closing the shutters. Closed shutter provide a very good protection form noise as well.
